“Eco-Flush” Urinal Systems

“Major environment changes have brought on new technology in water saving for urinal systems where thousands of litres of water go down the drain –literally”

EHS have recently started providing this “Environmentally Friendly Option” for the maintenance and sanitation of urinals, both stainless steel and ceramic.

Firstly, the main product benefit is the saving of our precious resource “water”. At least 96% of water is saved with this latest technique in urinal maintenance.

The need for other types of urinal maintenance is no longer required ie. maintainer cakes, urinal solutions and other nasty chemicals.

Finally, the biggest issue most washrooms with urinals have is the “malodours” emitting from the urinals and pipework. The Eco-Flush system greatly reduces these odours in a safe and cost effective way.

How does this system work??

The Eco-Flush system has several main components these are:-

Initial Set-up
Installation by a Qualified Plumber will be organised by EHS
Please allow for 2 hours installation time, costs and charges will be advised

Solenoid Valve
A water saving device which fits directly into the solenoid valve will control the flow of water to the cistern. The water wastage is reduced by at least 96% - think of the $$$ savings and your positive impact on the environment!

Timer
A 24hr digital timer (regulated to the second) controls the flushing cycles so that it will only flush approx 600mls 4 times per day in a single stall urinal and approx 1.8litres in a double stall trough urinal. Compared to nearly 9-11 litres each flush on the standard urinal cistern system, you can clearly see how this Eco-Flush system becomes very cost effective

Drain Cartridge
The dome cartridge contains good bacteria and enzymes that feed off the uric acid/salts which crust around the grates and pipework.

The enzymes and good bacteria keep the uric acid/salts in a soluable form so that the next time the system flushes it will wash the uric acid/salts away.

It is a myth that the actual urine causes the “bad smell” in the mens bathroom, it is actually the crusty dried up uric acid/salts which builds up over time and emits the strong malodours.

Requirements Prior to Installation

In order for the “Eco-Flush Urinal System” to work effectively, a few areas need to be assessed prior to the installation of your new system.

•Firstly a thorough “Deep Clean/Descale” of your urinal trough, grates, vessels and pipework and needs to be undertaken to remove ALL traces of built up Uric Scale (this is what causes the strong malodours)

•In extreme circumstances (where pipework has received permanent damage or pipes are totally blocked) new pipework needs to be installed by a licensed plumber

• Urinals will be “out of order” for 2-4hrs, so alternative arrangements need to be organised prior to installation of your new “Eco-Flush Urinal System”. EHS can arrange for the installation to take place on weekends or early AM or late PM so that minimal “down time” will affect your staff and guests.

Ongoing Maintenance

• The Cartridge is replaced by our Service Technicians every 3 months to ensure that the uric acid is kept in a soluble form. The cartridge also incorporates a patented odour absorption component so as to stop any odour being released from the waste outlet/trap.

• EHS can supply an All Purpose Biocidal Cleaner that will not affect the good bacteria and enzymes in the cartridge but will serve as an all purpose cleaner at a very economical price. (EHS Biocidal Cleaner comes in a 1 litre bottle and will dilute to make 100 litres of cleaning fluid that can be used on all bathroom surfaces).

Q. Do our cleaners need to use anything different to clean the urinal??

A. No, the use of bleaches, acids and other cleaning chemicals will no longer be required as they will damage the enzyme cartridge. EHS will supply you with an All Purpose Biocidal Cleaner that will not affect the good bacteria and enzymes in the cartridge but will serve as an all purpose cleaner at a very economical price. (EHS Biocidal Cleaner comes in a 1 litre bottle and will dilute to make 100 litres of cleaning fluid that can be used on all bathroom surfaces).

Q. What are the differences between the EHS “Eco-Flush” system and the “Waterless” urinal systems/cubes that are on the marketplace??

A. The main point of difference is that the EHS “Eco-Flush” system still requires small amounts of water to disperse the uric salts. However, the completely “waterless” systems on the market such as cubes etc use NO water. There is evidence to show that for a short time only, malodours are kept at bay, however after a short period of time the uric salts and sludges start to build up again in the pipework. Ultimately the copper piping corrodes and is permanently damaged and is very costly to replace.
